“If you want to receive life and healing from God, take time to find the words of Scripture that promise these results.”~ F.F. Bosworth
Life is unpredictable and we never know what tomorrow may bring. In an instant our lives can be turned upside down. However, there is no circumstance greater than God’s power. His word is more powerful than anything you may face.
During a tough season, lean on Bible Verses and trust God’s promises.
My life took a drastic turn six months ago. I was perfectly healthy, living my best life. I was walking 2.5 mile three to four times a week, watching my grandaughter every week and just truly enjoying the blessings of life. Suddenly, out of nowhere, I started to feel weakness in my hips and legs. On top of this I began to be riddled with arthritic pain and my right shoulder became stiff and painful. It turned out I had frozen shoulder. Living with chronic pain is very challenging. My life changed dramatically as I went from being a strong healthy woman to being a weakened one.
The first few months I fell into a pit of self pity. I wept daily. Sometimes I cried several times a day. I prayed and asked God what in the world happened to me? It’s not easy when your life suddenly changes. Losing my health was shocking. I couldn’t go for walks anymore and because of the severe arthritic pain in both my hands, I was very limited in many activities.
Be true to yourself and allow yourself the time to grieve.
After some time of grieving, I knew it was time for the warrior in me to pick up her sword (the word of God), rise up and fight. I needed to lean on God’s word to carry me through this tough season.
In Isaiah 55:11 God tells us, “It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.” God’s word has power and we can count on it for whatever situation we are in. This is why it’s important to find Bible verses for your own specific circumstances and stand on them. Put a stake of faith in the ground to believe that God’s word is written for you. Speak them out loud over yourself and/or your loved one.
I found ten Bible verses to carry me through this tough season of poor health. I have held on to them tightly. At times they have been on repeat in my mind and on my lips. I don’t know what hardship you may be facing today, but whatever it may be, I want to encourage you to stay strong in the Lord Jesus and in His word. Proverbs 30:5 says, “Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to him for protection.”
God is your shield, so run to Him and His word for protection.
Here are the ten Scriptures that are carrying me through my tough season. I encourage you to ask the Holy Spirit to lead you to Bible verses that apply to your situation.
“O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you restored my health.” ~Psalms 30:2
“… I have heard your prayer and seen your tears. I will heal you...” ~2 Kings 20:5
“But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.” ~Luke 13:12
“I will not die, instead I will live to tell what the Lord has done.” ~Psalm 118:17
“He asked you to preserve his life, and you granted his request. The days of his life stretch on forever.” ~ Psalms 21:4
I love you, Lord;
you are my strength.
The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior;
my God is my rock, in whom I find protection.
He is my shield, the power that saves me,
and my place of safety.” ~Psalm 18:1-2
“He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.” ~Isaiah 40:29
“But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.” ~Isaiah 40:31
“I will give you back your health and heal your wounds,” says the Lord”…~Jeremiah 30:17a
“You must serve only the Lord your God. If you do, I will bless you with food and water, and I will protect you from illness.“~ Exodus 23:25
Jesus told us that we would face trials and sorrows (John 16:33). So we ought not be surprised when we go through tough seasons. In those times we must decide to stand strong and to never give up. God’s word is full of power and strength. So use it to fight your difficult days.
Ask the Lord for what you need. Believe in His goodness and trust Him to move on your behalf.
“Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear.“~ Matthew 24:35
