Christmas isn’t just a day, it’s a frame of mind.~ Valentine Davies (Miracle on 34th Street)
Growing up, Christmas was only about Santa bringing me gifts. Since I wasn’t a Christian I never thought about Jesus. I didn’t know Jesus personally and, therefore, Christmas really had little value to me. The only purpose was to give and receive presents.
Today, as a follower of Christ, Christmas has rich, deep and emotional meaning for me.
When I reflect on the greatest gift that’s ever been given to me-God’s son, Jesus Christ, I am in awe. Christmas has become a celebration of the gratitude and joy in my heart and the love and peace in my home that I now live with-all because of Jesus Christ.
As I reflect on who Jesus is to me and all that He has done to transform my life (from the inside out), I am overwhelmed by His love.
The miracle of Christmas isn’t only that Jesus came and payed the debt for our sins, but that He promises to be with us through every step of our life journey.
This is one of the greatest reasons why we as Christ followers, have cause to rejoice not only in the Christmas season, but all our days. We celebrate the gift of God’s presence and that He is with us, never to abandon us. This is truly remarkable.
Look! The virgin will conceive a child!
She will give birth to a son,
and they will call him Immanuel,
which means ‘God is with us. ~ Matthew 1:23
Whatever you’re facing this Christmas season, may you turn your heart and thoughts on who Jesus is. He is not only the light of the World, the Prince of Peace, and the Savior of the World, but He also cares deeply for you and He promises to never leave you.
He has promised “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”
This is a truth you can hold on to. Jesus is alive and He is near to every person that has invited Him in. He is the best friend you will ever have, because He is faithful and will never leave you. He is Immanuel-God with us. If you want to know Him personally, all you have to do is tell Him that and then believe He is with you. It really is that simple.
And this, dear friend, is the miracle of Christmas.
May you believe in the power and grace of Christ and allow Him to invade your heart and mind. As you surrender your all to Him, He will fill your heart with peace and joy. Let Christmas become a daily way of living, not just a season.
Then go and share the joy of the Christmas miracle with others.
“Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.” ~ Luke 2:14
