“The future is as bright as the promises of God.” ~Dr. Bob Jones Sr.
There is so much anguish and despair in the world today. People are filled with fear, anxiety and feelings of hopelessness.
If you are facing a trial right now may you find comfort in the One that is your Hope- Jesus Christ. May you sit at His feet and soak in His promises written in His Word, the Holy Bible. May your roots grow down into God’s promises, and may your lives be built on His foundation. Then your faith will grow stronger and you will be more equipped to handle your challenges.
There is power, strength and comfort in God’s Word. Here are a few Scriptures that I have found comfort through during difficult seasons of life. May they be a source of hope for you as well.
- Psalm 39:7
And so, Lord, where do I put my hope?
My only hope is in you.
2. Isaiah 41:13
For I hold you by your right hand— I, the Lord your God.
And I say to you,
‘Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you.
3. Psalm 119:50
Your promise revives me;
it comforts me in all my troubles.
4. Ephesians 1:18
I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.
5. Psalm 78:52-53
But he led his own people like a flock of sheep,
guiding them safely through the wilderness.
He kept them safe so they were not afraid;
but the sea covered their enemies.
6. Psalm 13:5-6
But I trust in your unfailing love.
I will rejoice because you have rescued me.
I will sing to the Lord
because he is good to me.
7. Ephesians 1:19-20
I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.
8. Psalm 146:8
The Lord opens the eyes of the blind.
The Lord lifts up those who are weighed down.
The Lord loves the godly.
9. Colossians 3:2-3
Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.
10. Zephaniah 3:17
For the Lord your God is living among you.
He is a mighty savior.
He will take delight in you with gladness.
With his love, he will calm all your fears.
He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.
11. Psalm 56:3-4
But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you. I praise God for what he has promised. I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me?
May God give you more and more grace and peace as you lean on His promises and grow in your knowledge of Him. In Jesus Christ there is always hope-always (click here to read more about this truth)!

God’s word is such a powerful weapon for spiritual warfare and so personal especially when we are being tried. All these verses are so comforting. I especially like Zephaniah 3:17. What a great Abba Father we have.

We would be lost without His Word. He has not left us here without all the tools we need to live here on earth. Thanks for your comment. I too love Zephaniah 3:17.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about what it must have lived pre-Christ days. They were expectant of the coming Messiah, but had not yet seen nor heard of his existence. What they must have felt upon first hearing that Messiah, the Saviour of the world, the Son of God would be born and a star in the East would lead the wisest of all men to witness this event. Pondering this situation, the emotions, the expectancy…I think of the traditional Christmas song “…a THRILL OF HOPE…the WEARY WORLD REJOICES!” God’s word was coming to life right before their very eyes, His promises were unfolding in their midst. Can you imagine how THRILLING that must have been. HOPE was actually born that night and they ALL knew it! I am thrilled to think of HIS second coming…what it must have been to experience the HIS first arrival.
