The Scriptures tell us over and over again to “give thanks to God.” And as followers of Christ, we are to always be thankful (Colossians 3;15).
In 1 Thessalonians 5:18 it says, “Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”
I have learned that having a heart of gratitude is the pathway to living a full and content life.
True and lasting joy comes from the realization of how much God has blessed you with. I encourage you to get in the habit of expressing your gratitude to God in all things and all circumstances.
Make thanking God a daily discipline.
Although there is so much to be grateful for (family, friends, food, shelter, etc.), here is my list to God of my top ten things I am thankful for.
1. Thank You Lord for always being so good.
Thank You Lord that because You are good I can have security in You always. Even when my life is uncertain I can rest assured in your goodness and I can trust You (Psalm 118:1).
You work all things out for good for those who love You (Romans 8:28).
Thank You Jesus.
2. Thank You Lord for the strength that I have in You.
Thank You that when I feel weak and feel I can’t handle my situation, You are always strong for me (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Thank You Lord that You delight in making me strong (Psalm 89:17).
Thank You Jesus.
3. Thank You Lord for Your unconditional love for me.
I thank You God for filling me up with Your love so that I can love myself.
I thank You God for filling me up with Your love so that I can love others, especially the “un-lovables” in my life.
Thank You Lord that Your love for me will last forever (Psalm 136, Psalm 89:33).
Thank You Lord that You will never abandon or reject me (Hebrews 13:5)
Thank You Lord that You are the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8)
Thank You Jesus.
4. Thank You Lord for showing me that I am worthy.
Thank You that I don’t need another human being to validate my worthiness, but that You, the God of the universe, makes no mistakes.
You made me with a purpose and a plan (Psalm 139).
I was made perfect , just the way You intended for me to be.
Thank You Jesus.
5. Thank You Lord that You are more powerful than my fears, my bad habits and/or my addictions.
Thank You God that all I have to do is ask You for Your help when I struggle with my sinfulness.
Thank You Lord that with You I do not have to fear anything (Psalm 34:4).
Thank You that You have given me a sound mind, power and love (2 Timothy 1:7).
Thank You that You deliver me from all my fears (1 John 4:18).
Thank You Jesus.
6. Thank You that You are so faithful.
You never put a temptation too overwhelming in front of me and when I am tempted, You will show me a way out so that I can endure. (1 Corinthians 10:13).
Thank You that You always show me a way out.
Thank You Lord that You provide for my every need (2 Corinthians 9:8).
Thank You Jesus.
7. Thank You Lord that You want me to be as holy as You are holy.
Thank You that through knowing and loving You I become a better person.
Thank You for your desire to refine me (1 Peter 1:15).
Thank You for your divine discipline, that You love me enough to take away those things that are not good for me (Hebrews 12:5-7).
I feel good about myself each time You refine a character defect in me.
Thank You Jesus.
8. Thank You Lord for Your grace.
I would not be standing if it wasn’t for Your mercy and grace upon me. I am a sinner through and through, and without You Lord I cannot manage my life (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Thank You Lord that You are a perfect role-model for me, that through your grace I can forgive those who have offended me (Matthew 6:12).
Thank You Jesus.
9. Thank You Lord for Your protection.
Thank You for Your angels that keep guard over my coming and my goings (Psalm 91:11).
I can look back on my life and see the many times You have watched over me and kept me safe (Psalm 89:18).
Thank You Jesus.
10. Thank You Lord that You have shown me what being rich really means.
I feel like I am the world’s richest woman.
Thank You Lord that financial security isn’t in my bank account, but in my faith in You and Your provisions (Philippians 4:19).
I am rich because of You Jesus. Because of Your goodness, strength, love, affirmation, power, faithfulness, holiness, grace, and protection I have all that I need.
Thank You for allowing me to feed from Your abundance and to drink from Your river of delights (Psalm 36:8).
Thank You Jesus~
