“But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.”~ John 1:12-13.
As Christians we have all heard that we are children of God and that He loves us. This is so true, but it often does not truly penetrate into our hearts.
So many Christians struggle with knowing who they are in Christ. I believe this is because they don’t fully understand their re-birth.
When you really understand who you are in Christ your entire relationship with Him will go to a deeper dimension.
You will have more confidence as a Christian.
You will have more power in your prayer life.
You will feel more secure in any challenge you may feel.
You will face your fears with courage.
You will handle your sufferings with peace.
You will have a boldness you could never have imagined you had.
You will love and accept yourself.
You will have godly confidence in yourself and your purpose in life.
How do you know who you are in Christ?
You must fully understand and receive God’s unconditional love for you and you have to accept yourself the way God accepts you. (Romans 15:7)
This comes from reading the Bible and believing in your heart that what has been written in it is written for you.
If you know who Christ says you are and believe it with all your heart, you won’t go your whole life searching for approval from people. You will have the confidence in Christ that you are perfect in His image.
Who does Christ say I am?
God calls you His masterpiece (Ephesians 2:10).
The God of the universe calls you His Child (John 1:12, 1 John 3:1).
He also calls you His friend (John 15:14-16) too.
He loves you and has adopted you as His very own (Ephesians 1:5).
The Holy Bible is a love letter written to YOU. It is the dictionary that defines who you are in Christ. I could give example after example of verses, but the bottom line is to study the bible and be open to God’s love for you.
Until God becomes real for you personally and you understand His love for you you can’t love yourself. And until you love yourself, you can’t love others (1 John 4:19).
Start at step one…
… open your bibles and your hearts and ask God to help you fully grasp His love for you.
Do you know who you are in Christ? What are some ways that God reveals His love for you?
“Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.”~Ephesians 3:17-19
